Twitter is becoming X, as the site's former bird logo has
been replaced by an authoritative new X logo. Elon Musk, the owner of the
modified online entertainment website, began announcing the shift early Sunday
morning with a series of tweets, beginning with one that said, "and soon
we will say goodbye to the twitter brand and, bit by bit, every one of the
birds."
Twitter replaced the logo after Musk asked for logo
submissions and stated that "if a sufficient X logo is posted this
evening, we'll make go live overall tomorrow." Musk then posted a tweet
with a video created by a Twitter user named Sawyer Merritt and changed his
profile photo to the new X logo.
The X logo itself appears to be based on a symbol from
Extraordinary Letter Sets 4. Musk noticed that the new X logo is a
"interval" one, which means it could be replaced at a later date.
Twitter employees were allegedly informed of the transition
in an email that concluded with the statement that it would be the last Musk
email to emanate from the Twitter.com domain.
